Acceptance into the practice: At the conclusion of your initial appointment, Dr. Murphy will offer a treatment plan, if your needs can be best served by the practice. If your needs would be best served elsewhere, Dr. Murphy will suggest a referral to an appropriate level of care.
Appointment Scheduling: The length of treatment is highly variable. Remission of symptoms is the ultimate goal of treatment, and clinical practice guidelines for some psychiatric disorders suggest continuing medication treatment for 9 –12 months after remission is achieved and for some psychiatric disorders treatment is indefinite. Patients in the acute treatment phase can expect to be seen every 2 weeks after starting a new medication and until remission is achieved. Monthly appointments may be preferred during the stable treatment phase. To remain in the practice, patients must be seen quarterly, at a minimum.
Cancellation Policy: Please provide 24-hour notice for cancellations. This policy helps patients access the care they need, when they need it. If you do not provide 24-hour notice, the full fee for your appointment will be charged to the form of payment on file with the practice.
Prescription Refill Policy: Prescriptions are written during appointments to cover the time between appointments only. Please be sure appointments are scheduled before prescriptions expire.
Payment Policy: All charges for professional services from Sean P. Murphy, NP in Psychiatry, PLLC are charged to the authorized payment form (credit/debit/FSA or HSA card) on file with the practice. Payment in full is due at the time of service.
Insurance Policy: The practice does not bill insurance companies or participate in any insurance plans. Individualized, flexible, and private care means you can see Dr. Murphy based upon treatment decisions made by the health care provider and patient, rather than decisions made by insurance companies and managed care organizations. Your insurance company can advise you about out-of-network benefits unique to your policy. At your request, office staff can provide a “super-bill” inclusive of diagnostic and service codes. Using this “super-bill,” you can submit claims directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Dr. Murphy does not participate in any insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
Fees for Services: Patients are responsible for full payment at the time of service. The fee for the initial diagnostic psychiatric evaluation, which is a 75-minute session, is $375. Fees for follow-up appointments are: Medication Management with Psychotherapy, 50 minutes, $175; Medication Management with Psychotherapy, 25 minutes, $125. Telephone Consultations (appointment scheduling and emergency contact excluded) are charged as follows: 5 minutes (minimum charge) $25; 10 minutes $50; 15 minutes $75. Missed Appointments (24-hour notice required to avoid charge) are charged the full fee of the session. Additional time is billed at $300/hour for the provision of other professional services, such as preparing reports and treatment summaries, consulting with other professionals about your care, crafting letters for insurance purposes.
